Meet Your Teacher
Hello and Welcome to Third Grade!
I hope this message finds you in the best of health and highest of spirits!
I have been teaching third grade in Chicago for the past 5 years (including my one-year residency). I am a former TV News Producer and Reporter, who decided that my heart was really in the classroom educating our nation's youth.
Speaking of education, I graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2004 with a Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies. I also have two Master's degrees: the first one is a Master of Arts in Journalism (2006), and the other is a Master of Arts in Teaching (2013).
I'm a Chicago native, but I grew up in the south suburbs. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, dancing, singing, writing, reading, and working on my fitness.
I am so excited to be your teacher, and I'm looking forward to an awesome school year! Third grade is such an important year, and I cannot wait to watch you learn and grow over the coming months! Here's to a successful and memorable school year!
Warmest regards,
Ms. Maxie
